As Thanksgiving break passed, I found myself wasting away the days looking at the ceiling with nothing to do. Or at least watching Netflix shows until my head hurt. So instead, with a nice long winter break coming up, we’ve decided to come up with some fun ideas to keep everyone entertained and feeling fulfilled! Some traditions that I remember I used to do with my family when I was younger during the holidays was making a gingerbread house. I have not made one for years, but I have decided that with this extra nice break it would be nice to revamp that tradition. Not only is it a fun and creative way to spend your time, but you can enjoy looking at it for days and then snack on it later!

Another holiday activity that is great for family bonding is Christmas/holiday cookie baking! Break out the frosting and cookie-cutters and go crazy. Also, Pinterest has a ton of great inspiration so that you can nail the holiday vibe. When my grandma and aunt came for Christmas a couple years ago, we had a great time baking and then decorating cookies, plus you have the entire break to eat them! Also, don’t limit yourself to cookies! Peppermint bark, muffins and cupcakes are also great holiday snacks. Finally, if you’re feeling extra competitive try a bake-off competition with your family!

If those activities aren’t for you, don't worry, we have you covered! A simple and fun way to stay connected with friends and family during this time is to make a shared playlist on Spotify to get you in the holiday spirit. Add your favorite holiday songs to a playlist and share it with your friends so that everyone can add their favorite music. That way, this year, whenever you put on that playlist you can feel connected to your friends and family jamming out to the best songs while staying safe at home.
Also, for all the people interested in astronomy, Jupiter and Saturn will be so close together that they will form something called a "double planet." This will be one of the first times in nearly 800 years it has happened. So, make sure to get your telescope handy because it will be on display for about a month!
Behind on your holiday gifts and don't want to spend lots of money? One of the best holiday gifts we can imagine is a scrapbook! Get some cute paper, accessories and photos (try using a polaroid printer!), break out the tape and scissors and you’re halfway there! These are really meaningful gifts, and we know your family/friends will appreciate them. This year for my grandfather’s birthday I made a scrapbook for him, and he really enjoyed it and said it was the best gift he’s received. Scrapbooks can highlight your favorite memories with loved ones, who will cherish them forever.
