I have never realized my love for yogurt until now.
This year our dining hall staff has blessed us with a new and improved yogurt bar. If you are like I am and don’t have time to eat breakfast in the morning, this yogurt bar is the next best thing.
Every day there are two choices of yogurt you can choose from, one always being greek yogurt and the other always a surprise. What makes me especially happy is the amount of toppings we are given to decorate our yogurt with. The dining hall provides us with flax seeds, chia seeds, cranberries, raisins, brown sugar, granola and many more! I always pair my yogurt with fruit and create a little parfait in the morning to start off my day.
Now, if you don’t know how to make an absolutely gorgeous parfait like I can, I’ll provide you with a recipe.
The first component of my delicious Holton parfait is using one of the bigger bowls in the dining hall. During break, I see many students making their parfaits in plastic cups to save time in between classes, but that selection makes the entire parfait process a little bit messier. Second: place ⅓ of a cup of the yogurt of your choice in the bowl. Lastly, layer your parfait with granola, fruit and more yogurt. Make sure to place some final granola at the top. This is a delicious recipe on its own, but here’s the key to making this parfait taste even more amazing:
Drizzle a little bit of honey over the top of your parfait! Voila! The first time I did this during the school day my mind exploded. There is just something delicious about the simplicity of a nice parfait.
Whenever you are in the dining hall, remember that there are so many things that you can create. For me personally, I will forever be thankful for the dining hall yogurt bar.
