Hi, everyone! This week I’m back with 10 song recommendations. I’ve been listening to these songs a lot lately, and I hope you can find at least one to add to your playlist. Okay, let’s get started!
1. Kiss Me More - Doja Cat ft. SZA
On Friday, Doja Cat and SZA released their new song, Kiss Me More, and I’m obsessed with it. It’s a perfect summer song, and it makes me want to buy roller skates so I can skate under a disco ball. It’s super addictive and a perfect song for the summer. I definitely recommend giving it a listen!
2. HOT HOT - Bree Runway
If you read my last song recommendation article, you know that I love Bree Runway! She just released this single, and I really like it. It also has an amazing summer vibe; I can’t wait to drive during the summer, windows down, with this song blasting. Honestly, the only thing I dislike about this song is how short it is; I wish it were longer.
3. 134340 - BTS
BTS have a ridiculously impressive discography, but I can honestly say that this song is one of their best. From the lyrics to the jazzy production, it’s perfect. 134340 is the asteroid number that was given to Pluto after scientists determined that it was not a planet. The BTS members use the relationship between Pluto and the sun to represent unrequited love. Even though Pluto orbits around the sun, it has lost its “planet” status. This parallels a relationship in which one person still loves the other but has been pushed away. The lyrics are so well-written, and the metaphor is really strong.
4. Cool People - Chloe x Halle
Chloe x Halle make amazing music, and this song is the 14th track from their first album, The Kids Are Alright. This song contrasts the first two songs on the list a lot; this song is much slower and more ballad-like. Regardless, I love it! Chloe and Halle’s voices complement each other beautifully, and their songwriting abilities are so impressive.
5. love - DEAN ft. Syd
Both DEAN and Syd are really good artists, so this collaboration was always meant to be amazing. This song is upbeat and fun. Their voices are really different but somehow don’t clash. I actually love the way they sound together. This song is really nice to listen to especially with nicer weather. It really gets me in the mood for summer!
6. All I Need - Noname ft. Xavier Omär
Noname is such an amazing yet underrated artist. She is an independent artist, and she has two mixtapes out so far. This song is from her first mixtape, Telefone, and it is one of my favorites. I really like the way Noname raps; her flow is really soothing and feels casual in a way? I’m not sure how to describe it, so just listen to the song! Xavier Omär’s singing voice is also amazing, and he adds the perfect touch to the song.
7. Party - Beyoncé ft. André 3000
Beyoncé!!! Recently, I’ve been listening to Beyoncé’s album, 4, a lot. If I could, I would recommend every song on this album, but I just chose this one for today. This song is so much fun to listen and sing along to because the beat is amazing. Of course, Beyoncé’s voice is as close to perfect as it gets, and André 3000’s verse is really well done.
8. Bad Religion - Frank Ocean
I’ve also revisited Frank Ocean’s album, channel ORANGE, recently. I’m not actually sure why, but I’m so glad I did. In my opinion, Bad Religion is one of the best songs on the album (if not the best). This song is written so well, and I absolutely love Frank Ocean’s voice. Comparing love to religion is such an interesting yet largely unexplored concept.
9. Enter Galactic (Love Connection Part 1) - Kid Cudi
Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon: End of the Day is a masterpiece and widely praised. I really like this song specifically because it’s really upbeat and fun to listen to. The way the beat rocks back and forth is really satisfying, and the production overall matches the space themes of the entire album.
10. I THINK - Tyler, The Creator
I THINK is the third song from Tyler, The Creator’s most recent album, IGOR. Everyone knows that Tyler is a crazy amazing producer, and he really shows that on this song. The whole album is impressive, and the storyline is really interesting. I would recommend listening to the full project, but this is one of my favorites.
