One of my favorite Sunday activities is going to brunch with friends and family. Personally, I live in Maryland, but I have explored many incredible brunch places in the DMV area. Listed below are some of my favorite brunch places as well as what I order from each of them!
1. Ted’s Bulletin
Ted’s Bulletin serves classic American cuisine. With incredible all day breakfast, lunch and dinner, Ted’s makes for the perfect brunch place. I enjoy the chicken and biscuits drizzled in honey with their homemade honey mustard sauce on the side. Two other highlights of the restaurant include its homemade pop tarts and milkshakes. These incredible tarts come in brown sugar cinnamon, strawberry, s’mores and blueberry cheesecake. Their milkshakes flavors include vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, espresso, Oreo, s’mores, caramel macchiato and peanut butter chocolate banana.
2. First Watch
First Watch is an American restaurant chain based in Florida that is known for its incredible brunch. From million dollar bacon to fluffy pancakes, First Watch has great options for everyone. Personally, I love the Floridian french toast, which is thick cut brioche bread topped with powdered sugar, cinnamon, strawberries, bananas, kiwis and warm syrup. First Watch also has some healthier options including avocado toast, a power wrap, steel cut oatmeal and the sunrise granola bowl. In addition to food, First Watch offers two great juices to boost your energy in the morning. The morning meditation fresh juice is made of orange, lemon, turmeric, ginger, agave nectar and beets. And, the kale tonic juice is made of kale, fuji apple, cucumber and lemon.
For those who aren’t the biggest fans of breakfast, I’ve found some other options for you. One of my favorite breakfast foods is a smooth, delicious acai bowl. I’ve listed some of my favorite acai bowls places and juice bars that have an incredible menu full of delicious, healthy breakfast options.
1. South Block
One of the best acai bowl places in the DMV area is South Block. With locations all around DC and Virginia, South Block has an incredible selection of colorful and delicious acai bowls. My personal favorite is the Mermaid bowl (pictured on the left). This delicious blue bowl contains a blend of blue majik, pineapple juice, bananas and mangos topped with strawberries, handmade granola, blueberries and shaved coconut. Another great option is the Cali bowl, which contains a blend of acai, bananas, blueberries and almond milk topped with handmade granola, blueberries, bananas and hemp hearts.
2. Sunset Raw
Sunset Raw is a hidden gem in Fulton, MD. This juice bar offers a healthy selection of acai bowls, smoothies, juices and wellness shots. If you are ever in Fulton, I would recommend the Pitaya bowl. The base of the Pitaya bowl is a blend of pitaya, apple juice, mango, bananas and strawberries topped with fresh mango, blueberries, strawberries and shredded coconut. Other great options on the menu include the Sunset Energy bowl, the Super Green bowl, the Sunset Chill juice and the Green Warrior smoothie. Sunset Raw also has a second location in Owings Mills, MD.
